While there’s a small proportion of the overall student population that absolutely loves studying (nerd alert), most of us (students) have a hard time dealing with the stress that comes along. Some get excited and all happy go lucky when tests and exams come along, and while that’s hard to believe, it is quite a true fact. Others dread that times of the year because our best friend just would not leave our side. And by our best friend, we mean procrastination. Today we bring to you a guide for survival as a student as well as tips for motivating yourself when you’re not feeling it at all. These are quite easy but can make a huge turn-around in your mood. So here is some of our advice:
-
Buy cute stationary
This is a fool proof method to at least get your brain excited about studying if it is something that rarely happens to you. Buying cute, colorful stationary would make you want to use it as soon as you can. You should consider this moment an opportunity to leave second thoughts at bay and just get started.
-
Don’t think too much
Can I do this? How much time is it going to consume? Will I be able to play Xbox? There’s too much work!
All the things above are the things every procrastinator thinks about as an excuse to keep pushing the task forward. The key to getting anything done is to JUST GET STARTED, even if you start abruptly without any planning. Of course we will recommend planning first (which we will get on to in a second), but if you are finding it extremely hard to get yourself to doing something, just get on to it.
-
Write down your goals
Writing down anything stimulates your thought process and clears your mind out. This is because we have up to 4000 thoughts in a minute, things tend to blur out in the process. Also, the most important part of writing down your goals is to give yourself a deadline. Now the writing process is all easy and nice until it’s time to actually do all of the tasks you just wrote. And if you’re a professional procrastinator, chances are that you are going to find it very hard to keep yourself in check. The easy way to do this is to tell your mom or dad or any person who cares about you about the deadline so that they keep an eye on you.
-
Treat your self
And by that we don’t mean that keep treating yourself without actually getting any work done at all. We mean set rewards for yourself for every time you complete a task and treat yourself accordingly. This will keep you motivated and your brain fresh so that you don’t get exhausted or you don’t find studying monotonous.
-
Manifestation
This technique has not only helped students but everybody else as well. This technique includes visualizing your dreams coming true as well as feeling the emotions as if it is actually happening. This sets your mood and motivates to reach that point.
So here were some our tidbits on how you can overcome procrastination and achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Only you can keep yourself in check and you are your own best critic.
