It’s been like three days since Green Shirts won the cup or as we’d like to say, snatched it from India’s hands by beating the shit out of them! Finally, we all got to experience what it felt like to wake up as champions. People didn’t even dread MONDAY, after the amazing win from Pakistan on the day before. That’s how brilliant it was. Don’t mind us, we are probably gonna stay in this state of euphoria for like the next 22 years until when Pakistan does something this great again. Just Kidding! The win was an eye-opener for a lot of us, reminding us to still keep believing in our team.
Everyone, we emphasize, everyone lost their cool post-match. All over the world, the celebrations were afoot. Whether it be young boys weared Pakistan cricket team t shirts and calling out Pakistan Zindabad in the streets of London while rocking a dhol and dancing the hell off, or the roads of Canada where a digital street sign congratulated Pakistan on it’s victory, or at Indian occupied Kashmir, where people celebrated their hearts out as gazillion fireworks lit the sky or maybe just back at home where every eye was welled up and every heart was overwhelmed with joy and pride. Ah, the feelz. We have never been so happy in decades. Which is a life time of a lot of people. This sheer greatness and the unpredictability is what makes team green so great.
We have jotted down a list of the most epic banter the subcontinent has ever witnessed. These. Are. Gold. We should never let them be forgotten. They will be remembered forevermore.
The TV ad campaign started by India a few years back blew everything up. It was a huge-ass take on Pakistan’s trophies from India and we’ll let it be known our bottoms were on fire when we watched it Pak vs India encounters. But we do have a hard time deciding whether our burn was more painful than the khoon kay aansu falling from every Indian’s eyes? It backfired terribly and we couldn’t have loved it more. Some guys even made an effort to actually look around for Indians living in abroad while driving in car as a group of friends. They’d approach desi people, ask them if they were from India and if they were affirmative, they’d deliver them the gratitude of finally getting the Mauka!
Baap Kaun Hai?
Since the match was held on the Father’s Day, things like who’s the daddy and baap kaun hai were all over the social media. Whether it be the cancerous tweets of Virender Sehwag or any self-proclaimed celebrity, the word baap was everywhere. Technically, since Pakistan was made a day before India was made independent, we are and always have been the real daddy. Like an autistic child, it takes a while for India to process things. Nevertheless, Team Pakistan made is sure everyone remembers that baap baap hota hai.
The hate-reeking tweets from Rishi Kapoor were all around the social media. This man who had been on our screens all our lives had a heartfelt respect among most Pakistani hearts but his constant hatred towards us has made him stoop very low in our eyes. Disrespectful and arrogant, this man might have just made the biggest mistake of his life. Everyone started responding to the stick he threw at us with bricks. Commonly known as Pishi Kapoor, he was silenced by a shut-up call from team green. The actor went from being a Kapoora to Kapooray real quick. Even Aamir Liaquat made sure he roasted the man to burnt crisp while he made live Kapooray Katakat on his show. SO BADASS!
Sarfraz Dhoka Nahi Dega
The Pakistan team Captain reminded us of our good old Kaptaan! From his hand movements to his cricket strategies, he keeps reminding us of Imran Khan over and over again just like this win took us all the way back to the ’92 World Cup. While we wondered why he chose to send Imad Wasim on strike instead of himself, the credit for all that went down during the whole series goes down to this man.
People are admiring and appreciating the cricket stars like never before. While Indian players are getting ridiculed all over the world, Team Green has never been happier. People are putting up awesome sunshades for team Pakistan, headers and displays of the team with the cup has taken over, printed t shirts, coffee mugs, wall clocks and what not. It’s crazy out here!
