The shopping sessions have kept us completely occupied, making each day longer than the last one. The thing with being an adult is that there is just so much that needs to be done. You must go to work every day, shop for hours looking for the perfect clothes and sandals, also run errands, get enough sleep, try to stay healthy and not break apart. That’s quite a lot of functioning for a person in one day, tbh. Which is why we are sitting here reminiscing about the days past of our beloved bachpan. We believe our childhood is the first thing that comes to our mind when we ponder over the word ‘safe’. Everything was so easy coming and simple back then, we didn’t have to worry about so many things all at once.
Sticking to this bakra eid 2017, let us take you to those beautiful festive days spent back then.
Spending hours of shopping with ammi for those Bakra Eid T-shirts 2016 and 2017’s shalwar suits designs was one of the most dreadful things we were always forced to do. Probably because she spent four out of five hours shopping for herself.
Eid ki Namaz
Perhaps, Eid was the only time we’d actually look forward to waking up early. The mandatory shower followed by wearing new Kurta and heading out for the prayers with all your neighbors and other male family members was one of the highlights of the day.
Post Eid ki Namaz Naashta
It was so lovely, having to spend one whole day with all of your family starting at the breakfast. Everyone would gather in the dining room and have a hearty breakfast together. There was some special kind of love in the air.
The sweetest of treats and the special menu
Eid and sweets go hand in hand, especially on bakra eid. From a huge variety of mithaaiyan to Ammi ka banaya huwa Sheer Khurma aur Kheer, we couldn’t get enough of these delicious treats! Still can’t, that is. And those B.B.Q’s are life!
Our moms would put special efforts for lunch and dinner, the most delicious and favorite dishes like Biryani and Qorma being our favorite.
Refusing to change your clothes and ending up ruining them
No matter how tired we were, we would always refuse to change our new clothes. Whether we’re out playing, taking a nap or even having lunch. We would always end up spilling something one way or the other and get a Mazedar Chappair from mommy dearest.
The endless naps
As a child, we didn’t have much to do. Just play around and eat, mostly. We used to do that all day. But then we’d get really tired and take multiple naps. Wish we could say the same for today.. sigh. Naps feel like a Door ka rishtedaar now.
Nevertheless, Eid is one of the occasions we look forward to all year. It’s a beautiful event reflecting love and care in the society and the family. Have you got Eid gifts for your loved ones yet?
